Rewilding As Resistance: Introduction to the Talks Series

Panel series collaboration between Mallory Lance of Ravenous Zine & Vanessa Chakour of Sacred Warrior

What is Rewilding? How is supporting the environment an act of resistance? An Intro to the #rewildingasresistance talks series

Join Ravenous Zine founder Mallory Lance and Sacred Warrior founder Vanessa Chakour in a monthly talks series covering the themes of Re-Wilding, Resistance, and how they each play into each other. For the inaugural talk we will introduce the series, define ReWilding, and also discuss why we need to reframe the way we all think of environmentalism as an issue for the people and not just an elitist issue. Come with questions and join us for an interactive panel discussion about how environmentalism, activism, human rights, animal rights, and social justice are all intertwined.

What Is A Witch Without Her Coven

Do you feel the call of your inner witch? This conversation seeks to explore why so many of us have felt drawn to the occult, herbalism, tarot, astrology, or other healing modalities.

With Ravenous Zine Founder Mallory Lance, Pam Grossman, Dianca London Potts, Kristen Sollée, and Staci Ivori

Do you feel the call of your inner witch? Have you felt drawn to the occult, to herbalism, tarot, astrology, or other healing modalities but feel you are alone in your friend circle? Do you hope to do work that is more aligned with your world views but something is holding you back?

There are many solitary practitioners out there and while we do not seek to discredit their practice by any means, this event seeks to discuss the power in uniting, the power of mutual support. And to shed light on the idea that we all may benefit from creating more connections with one another.

The past couple of thousand years have born witness to many witch hunts across the globe. As we heal from generational trauma associated with this, it makes a ton of sense why it can be so daunting for us to unlearn our social conditioning and speak our truth. Conditioning that tells us we cannot or should not support other women. That if we're independent or different, we will be attacked by groups of other women.

This talk seeks to explore ways that we have been conditioned to be pitted against each other, and explores how we can overcome these fears. Practicing in their own coven, Pam Grossman of the Witch Wave, Dianca London Potts, Kristen Sollee of Slutist and Witches, Sluts, Feminists, and Staci Ivori will join Ravenous Zine founder and editor-in-chief Mallory Lance in this exploration into the Witch, covens, and all you need to know to start your own.

The Ethics of Consumption: Moon Mountain Gathering

The Ethics of Consumption: Moon Mountain Gathering

Ravenous Media founder Mallory Lance will be guiding a course at Moon Mountain Gathering in Nevada City, California from Sep 19th through Sep 23rd, 2018.

The course is entitled The Ethics of Consumption, and it will begin with an exploration of Capitalism, its origins, and its development over the past 250 or so years. We will discuss the material through a lens of the global narrative, and discuss the vast and devastating effects of colonization of people and the natural landscape with capitalism as a driving force. We will also discuss why and how this very Eurocentric model has been and continues to be damaging for people of color.

We will then discuss various indigenous cultures around the globe that have a practice of reciprocity with the land and each other, and we will gain a better understanding of how we can cultivate personal standards to work within the capitalist system to celebrate reciprocity and support of makers. We will hold ourselves accountable and create a shift within ourselves to make connections between the money we spend as consumers and the systems we are directly supporting by doing so.

After the course at Moon Mountain Gathering we will be sharing the syllabus and will be open to teaching it at upcoming workshops. If interested in hosting the course, please send us a message on our contact page.
